One such assistant that recently caught my attention is TrueCaller's Digital Assistant. Initially skeptical, I found myself slowly but surely won over by its convenience and efficiency. Let me share with you the story of how TrueCaller's Digital Assistant became an indispensable part of my smartphone experience.
The Skeptic's Dilemma
Like many others, I had reservations about installing yet another app on my phone. I questioned the need for another digital assistant when my device already had one built-in. However, TrueCaller's reputation as a reliable caller identification app piqued my curiosity, leading me to explore its additional features, including the Digital Assistant.

Upon launching the TrueCaller app, I discovered the Digital Assistant tucked away in the corner, waiting to be discovered. With a swipe and a tap, I enabled the assistant, unsure of what to expect. To my surprise, I was greeted by a friendly and intuitive interface that felt like a breath of fresh air.
How the TrueCaller Digital Assistant Works
Upon activating the TrueCaller Assistant, I was shown a screen asking me to customize the Default voice message that the Assistant would say when someone calls me.
Using the fully editable option, I was able to fully customize the greeting to something I felt was a little more human instead.
I could select from four different voice options, two male and two female, in my Australian native tongue.
So What Happens Exactly When the TrueCaller Digital Assistant Takes the Call?
You can set the phone to either ring first allowing you the opportunity to take the call, before the Digital Assistant answers it for you, or you can send all calls directly to voicemail, which means your phone will not ring and the Digital Assistant will answer all calls immediately. I went with option 2, because I get a lot of spammy phone calls these days.
With Option 1: Phone rings first, you can either send it to the Digital Assistant to answer or take the phone call.
With Option 2: Your phone will not ring at all, all calls go directly to the Digital Assistant to answer.
When the Digital Assistant answers a call, they say the appropriate greeting and then wait for the caller to talk. They then send what the caller says in a notification via the TrueCaller app and you can decide if you want to take the call or leave it.
If you take the call, you will then speak to the caller directly and the Digital Assistant has done their job and is no longer required.
If you decide not to take the call, the Digital Assistant lets the caller know you are unavailable and says goodbye.
Room for Improvement
There is no second chance for the caller to leave a voicemail message after talking to the Digital Assistant the first time. I would like to see the ability for the caller to leave a second message with follow up information, should I need to reject the call.
Efficient Communication
TrueCaller's Digital Assistant quickly became my go-to tool for streamlining my communication. Its smart call management system automatically identified and blocked spam calls, saving me the trouble of dealing with pesky telemarketers. Moreover, it seamlessly integrated with my phone's contacts, providing valuable context before every call, making me feel more prepared and professional.
